Two teenage suspects were arrested Sunday night for trying to loot guns from a sports store that was closed due to Hurricane Irma, Orlando police said.

Police said the suspects would not come out of the Academy Sports and Outdoors store on Gardens Ridge Way that they were trying to steal the firearms, ammunition and other items from.

Once officers surrounded the store, one of the teenagers walked out and was arrested, police said.

The other suspect was taken into custody after some members of the Orlando SWAT team deployed gas in the store, ClickOrlando.com reports.

The Orlando PD was not happy with the characterization of the Academy Sports incident as a “standoff” by some local media.

On Twitter, the Orlando Police Department asked the media to be cautious in its reporting — a tweet from an Orlando television reporter incorrectly suggested that there was a police standoff at Academy Sports, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

“Reports of looting are inaccurate & unnecessarily put our community on edge. Please refrain from erroneous reporting at this time,” OPD said on Twitter
