A man who was holding a woman hostage was shot and killed by an officer with the Davie (FL) Police Department following an hours-long standoff.
"As we negotiated with the individual inside the house, it was brought to our attention that he was not alone, that there was a female in there that we believed was being held against her will," Davie Police Chief Dale Engle said at a briefing.
When the negotiations didn’t resolve the issue, Engle said, "one of our officers discharged his weapon."
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the man has not yet been identified and it remains unclear what relationship he had with the woman.
