The Statesville (NC) Police Department this week welcomed a new K-9 to its ranks.
The agency posted on Facebook, "Statesville PD congratulates Officer A. Berens who successfully certified with her partner SPD K-9 Diezel as a K-9 team through the United Police Work Dog Association (UPWDA)."
Berens and K-9 Diezel spent the past few months completing in-house canine handler school and are now certified in the areas of Narcotics, Tracking, Apprehension, Article Search, Area Search and Building Search.
The Facebook post concluded, "With training and certification now complete, Berens and Diezel began working the road this week with Delta Patrol Squad. Congratulations!"
