Indiana Department Mourns Loss of Retired K-9

Officers with the Warsaw (IN) Police Department are mourning the loss of a K-9 that recently retired from the agency due to illness.

Officers with the Warsaw (IN) Police Department are mourning the loss of a K-9 that recently retired from the agency due to illness.

The department posted on Facebook, "It is with great sadness that the Warsaw Police Department announces the passing of K-9 Dax."

Dax was a Belgian Malinois born in Holland in 2010 and joined the department's ranks in April 2013.

The agency said that Corporal Phil Reed on the midnight shift.

"Dax assisted the Warsaw Police Department and other surrounding agencies in countless searches for narcotics and fleeing suspects. He could often be seen during public appearances showing off his skills of locating drugs, finding people, and bringing fleeing felons to justice."

At the time of his death, K-9 Dax was surrounded by Corporal Reed and the rest of his family.
