Officers with the St. Petersburg (FL) Police Department said goodbye to one of its K-9s this week. K-9 justice passed away this week following six years of retirement from duty due to undisclosed medical conditions.

According to WTSP-TV, K-9 Justice had worked with his handler from 2011 to 2014 before retiring from service to live with his handler and family.

The agency said on Facebook, "Justice was known for his crazy. Just like his partner, Officer Regan, he had a lot of energy and was really agile and fast."

The post continued, "A K-9 Team has a bond like none other. They train for months together and work together day in and day out, for years. They trust each other and keep each other safe while doing the most dangerous job—sniffing out bad guys who run away after committing serious crimes."
