New York Officers and Firefighters Head to Louisiana for Hurricane Response

Task Force One, the NYPD and FDNY’s Urban Search and Rescue team geared up and headed down south on Sunday as Ida was making landfall as a category four hurricane.

New York City first responders from the NYPD and FDNY are heading to Louisiana to help with rescue operations following the impact of powerful Hurricane Ida Sunday.

Task Force One, the NYPD and FDNY’s Urban Search and Rescue team geared up and headed down south on Sunday as Ida was making landfall as a category four hurricane, WPIX reports.

Eighty-three NYPD and FDNY members and six dogs, along with four water-rescue boats and rescue equipment for collapsed buildings headed to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to help with rescue efforts and more.

Line crews from Con Edison are also heading to the disaster zone to help restore power.
