A Goodyear, Arizona, Police officer is being praised for rescuing a woman trapped who was trapped inside a crashed and burning car.

On Sunday (May 25, 2025) at around 4:30 a.m., the officer was returning from booking a suspect, when he saw the aftermath of a multi-vehicle accident, including a car totally engulfed in flames.

The driver of the burning vehicle was beeping her horn “desperately signaling for help,” the Goodyear Police Department said on Facebook.

The officer ran to the car, broke out the driver’s side window, and pulled the woman out. Goodyear PD says her hair was on fire, and the officer tried to put out the flames.

Police say the woman was critically injured but is expected to survive. She was identified by authorities as the daughter of a Goodyear firefighter.

The officer suffered serious burns on his hands. He was not identified by the police department.
