A Lugoff, South Carolina, man was killed Monday night when he was shot at a home that deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office say was “booby-trapped.” The sheriff says he believes the rigged shotgun was targeting law enforcement.
When they arrived at the vacant home, deputies said they found Jordan Dove, 34, to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, WISTV reports.
Dove’s daughter told deputies she and her father were at the scene to check in on the home, belonging to Dove’s uncle, Alfonzo Brown.
Thomas Summers, Calhoun County’s Sheriff said Brown is currently incarcerated in Maryland. According to a press release from the Prince George’s County Police in Maryland, Brown was a person of interest in a non-deadly triple shooting. The release was posted on Jan. 11
“This is my opinion, he knew the crime he was going to commit when he left here and went to Maryland, he knew he would be on the run, he knew that he would be tracked back to Calhoun County, he knew that we would be coming out to get him, and I think he set it up for us,” said Summers.
