A Washington sheriff’s office said a woman faces multiple charges after first stealing a car with an infant inside and then a police car while handcuffed and in custody after the first incident.
Woman Steals Car with Baby Inside, then Police Car
Authorities say a Washington woman first stole a car with an infant inside, then once apprehended stole a police car while she was cuffed. Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office pinned the car a short distance away.

Two Washington sheriff’s deputies used their patrol vehicles to block the getaway attempt by a woman who stole a police car and tried to drive away while cuffed. She had been placed in the car after being arrested for stealing another car with an infant inside.
Grant County Sheriff’s Office
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the Warden Police Department reported a vehicle had been stolen with a 2-month-old infant inside. Traffic cameras were able to determine the direction of travel as the vehicle left town.
About 15 minutes and 12 miles away, a caller reported a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle matched the description of the one that had been stolen so a deputy responded and found the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road.
He took the female suspect into custody and the infant was returned to its family unharmed.
“The suspect was handcuffed and placed in the back of a Warden police car. A short time later, the suspect was able to crawl from the back seat to the front seat of the Warden police car and drive away,” a sheriff’s office social media post explained.
Two deputies pinned the stolen police car, stopping it about a half mile away.
The suspect was taken into custody, then to a hospital for medical evaluation.
The 21-year-old woman is charged with second-degree kidnapping, reckless endangerment, and theft of a motor vehicle.
