When Warren, MI, police officers pulled over a speeding driver Tuesday they encountered a frantic mother with a baby that was not breathing. Officer Brenden Fraser’s quick actions are credited with saving the little boy, and it was all caught on video by his dashcam.
"Officer Fraser’s actions on this traffic stop are nothing short of heroic," Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said in a statement. "This incident shows that police work and traffic stops are not always about writing tickets or making arrests."
Fraser was working traffic enforcement when he noticed the Chevrolet Camaro speeding between about 75 and 80 mph, reported The Detroit News. A panicked mom was holding the 18-month-old child in her lap and her brother, the baby’s uncle, was behind the wheel.
The officer took the child from the mother and placed him over his forearm and delivered a few back blows and the child started to regurgitate, FOX2 reported. Officers then transported the child to a nearby hospital and he was reported to be okay.
