Washington Detective Unmasks Acid-Attack Hoax
Vancounver (Wash.) Police detectives uncovered the hoax during an interview with Bethany Storro's doctors, who said her injuries were not consistent with the acid-splash attack she initially described.
A 28-year-old Washington woman will face second-degree theft charges for accepting nearly $1,000 in donations from well-wishers, after she allegedly faked an acid-attack injury, KATU reports.
Vancouver (Wash.) Police detectives uncovered the hoax during an interview with Bethany Storro's doctors, who said her injuries were not consistent with the acid-splash attack she initially described.
Storro's injuries were likely self-inflicted, according to a statement released by the Vancouver (Wash.) PD.
Storro confessed to burning her face with drain cleaner hours before the incident was called in to 911 dispatchers. She applied the acid using gloves and a towel in a park restroom near Clark College, according to KATU.
