As East Texas police officer shown slamming an 18-year-old boy onto the hood of his cruiser has appealed a suspension handed down from his chief that he used excessive force during the arrest, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Paris (Texas) Police Chief Bob Hundley released a three-minute clip of the dashboard video of the arrest, which took place Nov. 10, 2009.

In the clip, Officer Jeremy Massey is shown throwing 18-year-old Cornelius Gill onto the hood, after handcuffing him.

Massey, wearing plain clothes, apparently approached Gill, while he was picking pecans to question him about a stolen vehicle. Prior to the starting of the dashboard clip from a second uniformed officer's cruiser, Gill had kicked Massey in the shoulder, while the officer tried to handcuff him, according to documents obtained by TiffNews10.

A second officer reported that Gill—he faces charges of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and assault on a public servant—also kicked and damaged the rear window of a cruiser.
