Seattle Detective Says Officer Followed Training In Woodcarver Shooting

Seattle PD's Det. Jeffery Mudd also testified that he would have dropped a knife if ordered to do so at gunpoint by a police officer - a reference to Williams' behavior just before he was shot.

Seattle Police Officer Ian Birk followed his training when he fatally shot woodcarver John T. Williams during a sidewalk encounter in August, the lead investigator in the case told an inquest jury Tuesday, reports the Seattle Times.

Seattle PD's Det. Jeffery Mudd also testified that he would have dropped a knife if ordered to do so at gunpoint by an officer. Williams, who was deaf in one year, didn't drop a folding knife after three commands from Birk to do so.
