Jason Gibson was convicted on Wednesday of fatally shooting Detroit Police Officer Brian Huff, following an 18-day trial that included 447 pieces of evidence. A Wayne County jury deliberated for about three hours, and then announced guilty verdicts on all 17 counts against the 26-year-old, reports the Detroit News.
Gibson will serve a mandatory life sentence.
Huff was killed May 3 while he and other officers investigated a reported break-in. Gibson shot Huff twice in the face as the officer entered the duplex, then ran outside, firing on and injuring five other officers.
