Tennessee Deputy Shot by Estranged Husband
Dickson County (Tenn.) Sheriff's Deputy Richard "Keith" Bellar succumbed Tuesday to injuries he sustained when a separated husband shot him in the head earlier in the week.

Dickson County (Tenn.) Sheriff's Deputy Richard "Keith" Bellar succumbed Tuesday to injuries he sustained when a separated husband shot him in the head, according to the agency.
Jayson Eggenberg, 27, of Charlotte shot the deputy at 7:47 a.m. while he investigated a crash involving the Eggenberg and his estranged wife, Kimberly.
Eggenberg crashed into his wife's pickup, shortly after she left her shift as a 911 dispatcher at the Dickson police office. The couple had separated and experienced ongoing domestic problems. Deputy Bellar was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, where he died.
Deputy Bellar served with the Dickson County Sheriff's Office for six years. Previously, he served with the Tennesee Department of Corrections. The deputy is survived by a wife and infant son.
"Deputy Bellar was doing what he did best, serving and protecting the citzens of Dickson County," Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe wrote in a statement.
