The chief of the Pickens (S.C.) Police Department has tendered his resignation, following his admission that he used a racial slur to refer to council members.

Chief Tommy Ellenburg resigned after a 15-day suspension for using the N-word. The chief had been under fire by the NAACP and other community groups. More than 200 people shows up to a community meeting to address his possible resignation.
