An LAPD officer responding to a call of a "screaming man" in the Wilmington neighborhood was stabbed late Thursday in a confrontation that also resulted in the fatal shooting of the suspect.

The officer responded to the 100 block of D Street. Officers arriving at the scene found a "sharp cane" at the scene. Officers had tried to subdue the man with a TASER.
