Family Urges Lights On for Critically Wounded Cop

Friends and family members of Lake City (Minn.) Police Officer Shawn Schneider are urging community members to keep their porch lights on as a symbol of hope for the critically wounded officer, reports Fox 9 News.

Officer Schneider was shot in the head by Alan Sylte, 25, on Monday. He had responded to a residence where Sylte held his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend hostage. The officer has been credited with saving the teen's life.

Sylte was found dead in the home, after an hours-long barricade at the home.
