An Ohio sheriff has resigned following allegations that he misused agency funds during a training trip in which he arranged a rendezvous with a subordinate who became known as "the kissing cop."
Delaware County (Ohio) Sheriff Walter L. Davis III allegedly spent part of the $1,331.55 for meals on Janine Senanayake during the trip to the FBI Academy in Virginia in August, reports the Columbus Dispatch.
Senanayake, a Delaware County deputy, was formerly known as Janine England, when a video of her kissing her former chief went viral. The Bureau of Criminal Identification is again investigating Senanayake, reports the Canton Repository.
Senanayake filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against Perry Township after she was fired for kissing Chief Timothy Escola in 2009 while the two transported a prisoner from Cincinnati, reports WIOI 19 Action News. The incident was captured on the cruiser's dash-cam.
