A campus police officer fatally shot a man who opened fire at a University of Pittsburgh psychiatric clinic today in a shooting that left two people dead and seven other injured.

A campus police officer fatally shot a man who opened fire at a University of Pittsburgh psychiatric clinic today in a shooting that left two people dead and seven other injured.

Employees and a visitor were injured, reports the Associated Press . One of the shooting victims is a campus police officer, who was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital for treatment, reports the  Star-Ledger . The gunman was also killed.

At least 200 police officers arrived at the scene and began performing a room-by-room search. The university sent out e-mail and text alerts shortly after the shooting. Neighboring buildings were placed on lockdown.

On Friday, police said they may release a photo of the gunman, because they have been unable to identify him. He wasn't carrying identification, and his fingerprints didn't match any in a federal database. A clinic employee, 25-year-old Michael Schaab, was fatally shot, reports the Associated Press .
