Oklahoma authorities are investigating a high water rescue that turned into a deadly shooting this past weekend.

Nehemiah Fischer, 35, and his brother, Brandon Fischer, 41, were reportedly fishing on their father’s property around 9 p.m. Friday when their truck stalled in high water.

Troopers with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol received a call about a possible stranded motorist around 9:27 p.m.

Just minutes later, the first trooper arrived on scene and told the men to get out of the water.

Eventually, the men walked toward the troopers, who identified themselves as state troopers, KFOR TV reports.

According to Capt. Paul Timmons, with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Nehemiah Fisher pushed one trooper to the ground and began fighting.

During the struggle, Timmons says both troopers discharged their weapons.

Nehemiah, who troopers say was armed with a gun, was shot and killed by one of the troopers.
