VIDEO: Officer Shot in Las Vegas, 2 Arrested
After a more than three-hour manhunt, two people were arrested in connection with the shooting of a Las Vegas Metro police officer Friday morning, reports Fox 5 Vegas.
The shooting happened about 4 a.m. Sgt. John Sheahan, of Las Vegas Metro police, said officers were responding to reports of people knocking on the front door of a home and trying to break in through a back door. When the officers arrived, someone started shooting at them with a high-caliber weapon. An officer was shot in one of his legs. Officers then returned fire.
Sheahan said a police dog that was with the officers was used to immediately arrest one of the people believed to be responsible for the shooting.
A second person was arrested about three hours later after a massive manhunt that blocked several streets in the area, Sheahan said.
The wounded officer was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, Sheahan said. He was listed in stable condition and was expected to recover.
