Authorities in southern Kentucky have suspended their active search for 62-year-old Floyd Ray Cook. They believe he is on foot, but they are not sure if he is still in the area. Police said he could have gotten a ride somewhere.
Putnam County authorities said Cook shot the officer during a traffic stop around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Algood Officer Ahscari Valencia is said to be in good condition. He was treated and is now recovering from home.
About an hour later, Cook was involved in a shootout with officers in Cumberland County, KY, according to Kentucky State Police, WSMV TV reports.
