Fallen Officer's 9-Year-Old Son Tells Atlanta Officers to Stay Safe

After a 9-year-old boy saw the protest on TV in Atlanta, he wanted to be sure to tell police officers to stay safe.

After a 9-year-old boy saw the protest on TV in Atlanta, he wanted to be sure to tell police officers to stay safe.

William Smiley, 9, asked his mother to call Officer Kim Jones with the Atlanta Police Department to make sure she was okay.

Jones responded by thanking William for thinking of her, WSOC TV reports.

William is the son of Officer Shawn Smiley, who was killed in 2012 in a helicopter crash as he and his partner searched for a missing child.
