California Highway Patrol Officer Memorial Defaced With Obscene Words

On October 18, two suspects trespassed onto the California Highway Patrol's new office in Bakersfield and defaced and vandalized the office and Fallen Officer Memorial with blue paint.

On October 18, 2016, around 11:15 p.m., two suspects dressed in all black clothing trespassed onto the California Highway Patrol's new office in Bakersfield.

Suspects defaced and vandalized property with graffiti, and the office and Fallen Officer Memorial were written on with blue paint. Obscene language was scrawled across the memorial and many of the perimeter walls, reports KERO.

The Fallen Officer Memorial includes the name of every California Highway Patrol Officer in Kern County who has been killed in the line of duty. It is under video surveillance, which captured this event. The video footage was forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is currently being forensically processed.
