Clayton County (GA) Police Chief Michael Register says he understands exactly what crime victims go through because he was a crime victim himself.
Register said he has a better understanding of victims he comes into contact with because of what happened to him when he was a 10-year-old boy. It was a 1971 kidnapping where he thought he was going to die.
“I honestly didn't think I would survive,” Register said, telling the story of how three men kidnapped him and placed him in a shallow grave.
“They actually stood around deciding who was going to kill me,” Register told WSB TV .
