VIDEO: GA Chief was Kidnapped as Child, Says It Shaped Who He is Today
Clayton County (GA) Police Chief Michael Register says he understands exactly what crime victims go through because he was a crime victim himself.
Register said he has a better understanding of victims he comes into contact with because of what happened to him when he was a 10-year-old boy. It was a 1971 kidnapping where he thought he was going to die.
“I honestly didn't think I would survive,” Register said, telling the story of how three men kidnapped him and placed him in a shallow grave.
“They actually stood around deciding who was going to kill me,” Register told WSB TV.
