A Mississippi police officer is recovering after he was shot in the line of duty Monday night.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. in the 800 block of Beamon Drive in Cleveland, MS.

Cleveland, MS, Officer Darrin White underwent surgery for a shoulder wound. Police say his injuries are not life threatening, reports WREG.

The suspect was brought to Memphis and is in police custody.
