An Adams County, CO, sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed in Thornton at around 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Authorities say the suspect is still at large and the sheriff’s department set up a large perimeter in the area.

Residents in the area have been asked to shelter in place and stay away from windows and doors, KDVR TV reports.
