A JetBlue airliner with 160 people aboard had a radio malfunction, rendering communications between the crew and the tower impossible. The Los Angeles-bound flight was getting ready for takeoff when the radio problem occurred, prompting the automatic activation of counterterrorism response.
Counterterrorism agents stormed the airplane as part of a standard protocol when the control tower loses radio contact with an aircraft taxing for takeoff.
According to ABC News, FBI agents breached the airplane, leaving passengers terrified.
One passenger Tweeted, “Woah. My worst nightmare. I honestly thought we were going to die.”
