Santa Fe Independent School District Officer John Barnes, who was critically injured in the shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas last month, was discharged from the hospital Wednesday, reports click2houston.
Barnes was shot in the arm and the bullet hit an artery. He was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. Surgeons repaired a blood vessel near his elbow and worked to repair the injury to the bone, officials said. He had spent weeks in intensive care since the May 18 shooting.
Doctors said many officers and former colleagues showed up to support Barnes, who retired from the Houston Police Department in January.
