Law enforcement authorities in Michigan confirmed that they had to fatally shoot three wandering Emus after being unable to determine the owner of the exotic birds, according to MLive.com.
Deputies with the Allegan County (MI) Sheriff's Office were dispatched to deal with the three enormous birds blocking a roadway.
Deputies tried—to no avail—to find out who owned the exotic birds.
ACSO Captain Chris Kuhn told WXMI-TV that multiple attempts were made to corral the birds.
"Those birds are about a hundred pounds, and the biggest thing is if they're cornered or scared, they have very large talons on their feet and can do a lot of damage," Kuhn said.
The Allegan County Sheriff's Department says they still don't know who owns the birds, according to WXMI-TV.
