The school board in Baltimore (MD) is revisiting the question of whether or not their school resource officers should be armed , hosting a forum next week to gauge public support for the idea, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Currently, Baltimore SROs are allowed to carry their service weapon while patrolling the exterior of a school building before and after school hours. But they are required to store their weapons in a secure location during the school day.
The school board doesn’t have the power to change the law prohibiting SROs from carrying sidearms, but it can ask the legislature do so.
