Virginia Police ID Knife-Wielding Man Fatally Shot While Stabbing Woman

The Richmond (VA) Police Department said on Thursday that the man who was fatally shot by police as he stabbed a woman inside a residence refused orders from responding officers to drop the knife in his hand.

The Richmond (VA) Police Department said on Thursday that the man who was fatally shot by police as he stabbed a woman inside a residence refused orders from responding officers to drop the knife in his hand.

Instead, 33-year-old Anthony Edwards continued his assault, so officers opened fire, police say.

Edwards had reportedly stabbed a total of three people in the home—all three victims knew Edwards, according to WTVR-TV News.

The two officers involved in the incident were placed on paid administrative leave.
