Officers with the Jackson (MS) Police Department fled their headquarters building Thursday morning after a fire set off alarms and sprinklers.
Smoke was detected shortly after 0730 hours, sending employees into the streets outside the building. The Jackson Fire Department responded and determined that an electrical fire was the cause of the incident.
Due to water damage, the second and third floors of the building will remain closed until at least Friday, according to the Clarion Ledger.
Chief James Davis said that despite the disruption caused by the fire, the department will continue to operate as normal.
