TX Officer Shot and Killed During Pursuit, Suspect Dead

A veteran Mission, TX, police officer was shot and killed Thursday after he was waved over by a woman who told him her son had shot at her.

Cpl. Jose Espericueta tried to make contact with the suspect and the 33-year-old man ran away, police say. Espericueta and other officers pursued, ABC News reports.

The suspect reportedly turned and opened fire, hitting Espericueta. The suspect was killed in the ensuing exchange of fire.
