California Man Found Guilty of Hit and Run of Police Officer

A man was found guilty of charges of evading a police officer, causing serious bodily injury, two counts of resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon in relation to an incident that left a San Francisco police officer severely brain damaged.

According to CBS News, 51-year-old Willie Flanigan ran over Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel in 2017. Lewin-Tankel was on bicycle patrol at the time of the incident.

San Francisco Police Officers Association President Tony Montoya said, "The jury saw that Willie Flanigan was a dangerous repeat offender who had no regard for others and they ensured that he will be held accountable for his deplorable actions."
