SEARCHA former New York State Police Trooper has succumbed to incurable cancer that developed as a result of the time he spent in the rubble of the World Trade Center following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Sergeant Jeffrey Cicora—who was assigned to work at the search and rescue effort in the weeks following the 9/11 attack—passed away on Saturday.

A former New York State Police Trooper has succumbed to incurable cancer that developed as a result of the time he spent in the rubble of the World Trade Center following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The agency said in a Facebook post that Sergeant Jeffrey Cicora—who was assigned to work at the search and rescue effort in the weeks following the attack—passed away on Saturday.
Cicora joined the State Police on October 12, 1992, and served with the State Police for 24 years. He retired in May of 2017 due to his illness.
As of March 31 of this year, 75,036 responders were enrolled in the Center for Disease Control’s World Trade Center health program.
