The deceased man accused of shooting and killing a San Marcos, TX, police officer in an April ambush has been identified as an undocumented immigrant.
Jose Alfredo Perez DeLaCruz, 46, was identified as the shooter who killed San Marcos police officer Justin Putnam and wounded officers Franco Stewart and Justin Mueller April 18, News4 reports.
Police say DeLaCruz was an undocumented Mexican immigrant who had been in the U.S. since the late 1990s, officers found no criminal record for him.
Officers say DeLaCruz ambushed the officers with a rifle while he was wearing body armor before killing himself.
