An officer who retired from the Oroville (CA) Police Department after more than 20 years of service to the community before running for—and holding—a seat on the Oroville City Council from 2002-2008 has decided to put his name back on the ballot, saying that there is unfinished business he wants to address.

According to the Chico Enterprise-Record, Jack Berry believes that he must return to office to address matters he feel need the attention of someone who has law enforcement experience.

"I'd like to see our police force bolstered more so than what is now," he said. "The Police Department has been sadly understaffed for many years. They need to be brought up to speed with a lot of the things that are changing now. We need to make sure they have the funding for that. A safe community is a community that attracts people to do business here."
