A Wisconsin judge handed out an unusual sentence for theft when he ordered the convicted woman to decide between serving 90 days in jail and donating her family’s Green Bay Packers season tickets to charity.
Sharon Rosenthal, of Appleton, Wisc., was convicted of one felony count of theft for taking more than $3,000 from the labor union she worked for. The woman said she used the money to pay personal bills because she was suffering financial hardship.
After hearing testimony that Rosenthal purchased a three-game season ticket package to the Green Bay Packers during this time, victims suggested that she donate her four seats to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Judge Scott Woldt of the Winnebago County Circuit Court gave Rosenthal the choice of serving time or giving up the coveted seats, which have been passed down in her family for three generations.
Rosenthal chose to give up her tickets for the upcoming season as part of a two-year probation.
