Surveillance video from Robert McCord's home show the occupants' interactions with Myrtle Beach, SC, police and officers responding to the fake 911 report that the man was murdering his family. McCord is a reserve police officer.
Officers of the Myrtle Beach, SC, responded to the home of a reserve officer Monday night after someone placed a call to 911 identifying themselves as the man and saying he was killing his family.
Claiming to be Robert McCord, the caller told dispatchers he'd just shot his wife and was going to kill the rest of the people in the house.
McCord's home surveillance cameras captured scenes of officers surrounding the house and McCord's brother-in-law walking out of the home with his hands up as officers shout commands. McCord also surrendered in compliance with officers' commands.
No one was hurt in the incident, WSOC reports.
McCord, who has worked for 20 years as a Reserve Police Officer said he made it clear he was not a threat. And after the incident he said he understood the officer's response.
"We're just on the wrong side of a bad call and we want to get this resolved as quickly as [the police] do," he said.
Police are investigating the call.
