Video: K-9 Helps Take Down Assailant Who Punched Officer in Face

A resistive subject who punched a police officer in upstate New York learned the hard way that the officer he had just assaulted is also a K-9 handler.

According to the New York Post , the assailant—identified by authorities as 31-year-old Tony Mann—had reportedly threatened a resident of a home in Newburgh (NY) with an edged weapon, prompting calls for police to respond.

An officer who then arrived at the scene can be seen on mobile phone video making contact with the subject, who then reportedly assumed a fighting stance. Mann then took a swing at Newburgh Officer Roman Scuadroni, police say.

Scuadroni took a couple of steps backward, opened the back door of his patrol vehicle, and released K-9 Lee from the back-seat kennel.

After a struggle, Mann was arrested and taken into custody. He has been charged with trespassing, a violation, as well as third-degree assault, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and second-degree menacing.
