SWAT teams, K-9 units and officers with more than 15 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies resumed their search Monday for the man suspected of shooting a park ranger near Moab, Utah on Friday.
Lance Leeroy Arellano, 40, is has been named a person of interest in the shooting of park ranger Brody Young. The ranger was shot in the arm, leg and stomach, after pulling over a vehicle at the Poison Spider Mesa trail head at about 8:40 p.m.
Young remained hospitalized Sunday in critical but stable condition. More than 160 law enforcement officers particiapted the a manhunt, according to the Grand County Sheriff's Office .
On Sunday "at first light," three helicopters were searching for Arellano using heat-seeking equipment and looking for possible escape via boat at the confluence of the Colorado and Green rivers.
The sheriff's office also contacted railroad authorities and sent search teams to check the railroad from SR 191 to the Intrepid Potash Plant. On Friday, teams cleared all railroad freight cars stationed at Potash.
Arellano has a criminal history that includes assault, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and theft.
