January 7, 2012

Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) and officers with Cleveland Police SWAT have arrested one of the leaders of the Heartless Felons gang.

Julius Webster, 25, was arrested at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 3500 block of E. 135th Street in Cleveland. Webster, who was wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, was a parolee who failed to report to his parole officer. He has a violent criminal history and was wanted since October.

The NOVFTF began working the case in November. The NOVFTF eventually obtained information that Webster was in the Cleveland area and was known to carry a firearm. In December, the NOVFTF added Webster to their "Dangerous Dozen" most-wanted list.

After tracking Webster to the home, task force members surrounded the residence and attempted to call him out. Webster refused to answer and remained in the residence. The task force then requested assistance from the Cleveland Police SWAT unit, who immediately responded. After approximately two hours of no contact, Webster left the residence and surrendered. He was transported to the Cuyahoga County Jail.

"This was a dangerous fugitive with a history of violent crimes," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. "We are thankful that this situation ended peacefully and that is a credit to our task force personnel and the Cleveland Police SWAT."
