A Lexington County (South Carolina) Sheriff’s K-9 died of apparent heat injury this week following a training session.
“K-9 Sam was a 2-year-old Belgian malinois who entered into service earlier this year. Though early in his career, he was already more than just a partner to his handler, Deputy Saunders. Sam was a trusted teammate and a protector. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him,” the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said on Facebook .
