Six Stabbed in Attack at PA Mental Health Facility

Police and emergency officials were called to a reported stabbing and sexual assault at a mental health facility outside of Pittsburgh Friday, reports KDKA .

Sources said the situation at at Turtle Creek Valley Mental Health involved a “man with a gun and a knife.” It was later discovered that the gun was actually a BB gun.

It is now known that six people were stabbed before the suspect, reportedly a former patient, was shot by responding police.

A counselor inside sent text messages to family claiming the suspect had stabbed “multiple people” inside the facility and that the suspect pulled a gun on her near an elevator inside.

Three SWAT officers "engaged the suspect," and fired shots at 3:13 p.m. The suspect was hit and was still alive and in surgery when the police last checked, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette .

"Right now, no one is deceased as a result of this incident," said Allegheny County police Superintendent Coleman McDonough about 5 p.m.

Six stabbing victims and suspect Dustin Johnson, 38, Johnson were taken to at least four local hospitals for treatments. It's unclear how Johnson got in with weapons.
