SHOT Show 2010: Bushmaster To Release Adaptive Combat Rifle

Bushmaster will release the Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR) into both the law enforcement and civilian markets, while Remington organizes training sessions with agencies interested in the weapon for patrol or tactical use, a Remington executive told POLICE Magazine at SHOT Show 2010.

The rifle once known as the Magpul Masada and developed in a partnership between Bushmaster, Remington, and Magpul should be ready by May, said Mike Chamberlain, vice president of sales with the law enforcement division of Remington Arms Co.

"We have a list of agencies who are interested in the product," Chamberlain said. "We'll do a class for them on the benefits and features."

The riflle, which was designed by Magpul specifically for military and LE use, is being called "the world's most adaptive modular rifle" because of its versatility.

The rifle offers the operator the flexibility to change calibers, barrel lengths, and stock configurations quickly without needing tools. It's being offered with a 10.5-inch, 14.5-inch, and 18-inch barrel.

Remington executives will offer the instructional session to agencies interested in the rifle, demonstrate how to disassemble it, schedule a live fire session, then ship a rifle for testing and evaluation, Chamberlain said.

The training is required for purchase. The rifle ships with three PMAG magazines and a black soft nylon case.
