America's toughest sheriff showed Arizona inmates he isn't a holiday grinch, playing seasonal music in Maricopa County jails, after turning away several lawsuits from inmates claiming the practice is "cruel and unusual," according a press release.

In a press release with green-and-red holiday lettering, Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced he would pipe in the music to 8,000 incarcerated inmates on Christmas Day.

"Holiday music from all countries and faiths are included in the play list from Latin America to the Middle East," according to the announcement. Which specific tunes did he play?

"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and anything by Alvin and the Chipmunks," the Washington Times reports.

Arpaio also announced he has prevailed in several lawsuits by the inmates who have filed six lawsuits in the past two years challenging Arpaio's policy to play Christmas music.

"The grievances center on cruel and unusual punishment claims, as well as forcing inmates to participate in religious celebrations. To date, four of the six suits have been dismissed and the two remaining are expected to be dismissed by the courts," according to the announcement.
