The following is a quick look at some of the highlights in each training track:

Live Fire - For the first time, POLICE-TREXPO's conference includes live fire classes. The live five program will be held at the Silver Eagle Group Training Facility and free transportation will be provided from the show to the range. Class offerings in the Live Fire track include Building Shooters taught by History Channel "Top Shot" contestant Chris Cerino and Patrol Tactical Rifle taught by David Narkevicius of the International Association for Counterterrorism and Security Professionals (IACSP).

Executive Protection Track - This track includes a three-part Introduction to Executive Protection program. Another great class in this track is Understanding the Protector's Mindset, an in-depth look at how to develop a "protector's consciousness." On the second day, retired NYPD Sgt. John Negus will teach a course on transitioning from the public sector to the private sector.

Officer Safety and Patrol Tactics - Highlights of this track include classes on low-light survival and how patrol officers can thwart terror plans. In addition, PoliceMag.com Gangs columnists, retired Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sergeant, and noted gang authority Richard Valdemar will teach a course on the relationship between gangs and domestic terrorism groups.

Tactical Medicine - For several years, POLICE-TREXPO has included an exclusive program for tactical medics and officers who want to know more about tactical medicine and first aid. This year's track includes Tactical Combat Casualty Care and High Threat Extraction.

Tactical Operations - This track includes discussions of how officers can prepare for Mumbai-scale attacks and how to counter knife attacks.

POLICE-TREXPO East is scheduled for Wednesday Aug. 10 through Friday Aug. 12 at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Va. To register and for more information about the conference and expo go to www.TREXPO.com .
