Philly SWAT Ends Stand-off With Suspect Who Shot 3 Cops

The Philadelphia Police Department's SWAT unit ended a stand-off Wednesday morning with a suspect who had shot two officers and a third earlier this month, reports MyFoxPhilly.

The incident began at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the agency's SWAT unit responded to the Sanger Street home with 20-year-old Nasuil Martinez, who was wanted in connection with the Dec. 9 shooting of another officer.

Officers were met at the home by a woman and a male then ran into the basement. The male, later identified as Martinez, fired through a drywall and struck one officer. The second officer went downstairs in support of his partner, and at that time, too, he was fired upon and was struck by gunfire. Both officers were uninjured because they were wearing Kevlar.

Martinez was named in a warrent stemming from a Dec. 9 vehicle stop, when he allegedly fired a round that grazed 25th District officer Kevin Gorman in the shoulder during a foot pursuit.
